Lapshin Nikolay Mikhailovich (1951 - ...)  Click to play

Lapshin Nikolay Mikhailovich was born in 1951 in the town of Furmanov, Ivanovo Region. Now he resides in the village of Kholuy, Ivanovo Region. In 1971 the artist finished the Kholuy Art School. His teachers were Semenov A.I., Kosterin A.M., Babarkin V.P., Belov V.A and Starikov N.V. His diploma work was a composition "The First Tractor".

Nikolay Mikhailovich is a NTTM prizewinner; he was awarded with two bronze medals and two diplomas. N.M. Lapshin's works are exhibited in the Kholuy Art Museum, the Ivanovo Region Art Museum, the Plyos State History, Architecture and Art Museum-Preserve. Lapshin joined the RSFSR Artists' Union in 1988, and has exhibited since 1974.

At present Nikolay Mikhailovich works at the Kholuy Craft Workshops. The artist paints in the style of Kholuy lacquered miniature, using tempera paints. He paints on a variety of themes, but prefers to depict fairy-tales, bylinas and historical subjects.

Nikolay Mikhailovich painstakingly paints his compositions, and it usually takes him much time to paint them. He likes to use in painting bright and mellow tones. The artist applies in work his personal artistic methods, that it is why his works are easily recognizable by peculiar painting technique. Works by the famous Kholuy artist V.A. Belov had a great influence on N.M. Lapshin's creative work.
