Shalaev Vladimir Ivanovich (1946 - ...)  Click to play

Shalaev was born in 1946 in the village of Mstera in Vladimir region. In 1963, he completed the Mstera Art Schoo, where he tried to master the art of artists of all generations. Paintings by Kuindgie, Korin, Vatto, Karavadzho had great influence on Shalaev's creative work. Shalaev works at the factory "Proletarian Art" and at the art school as a master of industrial training. The artist creates miniatures, using techniques of tempera and oil painting in the style of Mstera fine art. Vladimir uses colors that help him to reveal a theme, but on the whole he prefers cold silver colors. Subject matters of the artist's works are fairy-tales, bylinas, history, and biblical subjects.

The most important parts of Vladimir's art are stylistic peculiarities, manner of execution, and coloring. He considers work on a miniature to be accomplished when, having finished its execution, he understands that he must have done this work and this theme in other way with other means of expression. Starting a new miniature, he sets a goal to express his thoughts and understanding of the world at the present moment. His pieces can be easily distinguished by his technique of execution and painting. It usually takes him from two to five weeks to create a casket excluding preparation.

In his spare time Vladimir likes to read and to think over new compositions. The master wishes admirers of his art faith, mental health, certitude in the future, and human happiness.
