Kritov Feodor Stepanovich (1946 - ...)  Click to play

Feodor Stepanovich Kritov was born in 1946 in the village of Lukh of the Ivanovo region. This miniature artist now lives in Palekh. He attended the Palekh Art School where he studied under N.M. Zinoviev and A.V. Borunov before graduating in 1971. Kritov enjoys painting fairytale scenes. Kritov has become most well known for the following works: "Prince Igor","Sivka-Burka", "Lukomorye", "Russian Fairy Tales", "Golden Cockerel", "By the Pikes Will", "Sadko", "Tale of Tsar Saltan".

Kritov believes that it is the combination of his theme depiction and unique color palette that draw collectors to his work. Before the actual painting of a piece, the artist spends a considerable amount of time thinking about the composition and how the scene can be best interpreted. According to Kritov, a lacquer miniature is done, when the theme has been completed. The artist pays a lot of attention to decorating his works as well. He uses several personal painting techniques, based on ancient Palekh tempera painting. All of Kritov's work displays a distinct color pallet and quality.

In his spare time, Kritov likes to fix up his car and loves to listen to music. Kritov wishes good health to his collectors, and hopes his works will bring more happiness to the lives of the people who collect his work.
