Lacquer miniature artist.
Born 4.2.1951 in Yuzha (Ivanovo Region).
Member of the Art Union since 1982.
In 1975 he graduated from the Palekh Art School. Smirnov studied under B.M. Nemtinov.
Worked at the PAW since 1975. Director of the Palekh Artel since 1991.
The artist was engaged in wall paintings (frescos of the Pioneers' Palace in Belov, Kemerovo Region).
Participant of different exhibitions since 1979.
Themes of his works: folklore, literature, genre scenes ("The little shepherd", "Fairy-tales of Palekh", "Russian fairy-tales, Russian folk songs, "Pushkin's fairy-tales", "Teadrinking").
Smirnov's works are exhibited in many museums such as the State Museum of Palekh Art, the Ivanovo Region Art Museum, the All-Russia Museum of Decorrative, Applied and Folk Art, the Art Fund of the Russian Federation, the Plyos State History, Architecture and Art Museum-Preserve.
