Description:

One of the famous cities in Russia's historic Golden Circle, Sergiev Posad features ancient cathedrals and landmarks, including the Trinity Lavra/Troitse-Sergeeva Monastery, the spiritual seat of Russia. Luckily many of the ancient cathedrals were spared destruction during the Soviet era, leaving churches like the one painted on this winter scene intact. One nice touch Fedoskino artist Tugarinova included was leaving much of the structures not cov- ered in snow, so as to see the colorful cupolas and roofs of the church, bell tower, and wall towers.
