Description:
Pichugina from the village of Fedoskino created this attractive box. It features a romantic girl painted against the summer landscape. Martins hover over her head; they twitter merrily as if they want to say how beautiful the surrounding world is.
The entire scene is painted over a large oval piece of mother-of-pearl that helps to strengthen the colors and to create a charming shimmering with subtle shades.
The scene is framed with two parallel gold lines. The box's exterior is covered gold powder; the contours of small flowers are scattered against the gold background of the box's exterior except the exterior bottom. The box's interior is covered with the light grey velvety material.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. A hinge is fastened from the left of the scene. The box can be closed firmly by means of a special adjustment that looks like a small gold metal pin that is placed into the socket when the box is closed. The box rests on four small rounded gold metal legs. The work is signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2006.
