The imagination of Fedoskino artist Maslov is a treasure trove of unique ideas of lacquer miniature compositions - as evidenced by this humorous scene depicted a fisherman coming home to his wife with his 'catch'. Clearly not amused, the wife can only roll her eyes at what must be another one of her hus- band's blunders. Maslov incorporates incredible detail into his colorful works, weaving in all sorts of nuances and textures to please the eye. Bits of mother-of-pearl and protruding decoration high- light the lid and the sides of the box (which are subtly painted with a marsh theme).
