The composition present the scene from Russian history,when Peter the Great returned from the tour of Europe,decided that Russia should be westernized to ensure its independence. He started with vigorous adoption of western customs and Europeon live style, insisting that beards, which were big part of old Russia culture, symbol of men's power and dignity,have been shaven. This Tsar' order cause a lot of small and sometimes big tragedies.
Item is made form paper-mache, the box's exterior imitates the color of turtle shell, interior is painted red and has a hinge.Box signed by artist and dated 1996.
