This beautiful piece was painted by talented artist Shavrin Boris of Fedoskino. Last creations of this young and gifted painter are inspired by outstanding works of Oleg Shakin, but Boris brings in his pieces of art his own imagination and creativity and sense of beauty.
The box shows Snowmaiden strolling in the forest and feeding birds. The palette contents blue and white oils as the action takes place in winter, with addition of gold and silver metal paints to give a feeling of magic and splendor. The artist demonstrates his unsurpassed skill while painting the Snowmaiden's festive attire. Painting with an ultra fine brush, he creates exquisite gold lace texture of her fur coat, stand-up collar and crown. The effect of festivity is strengthened by a piece of mother-of-pear inlaid into her costume; it shimmers beautifully with bright green and blue tints. Another piece of mother-of-pear is shining through the beautiful hat-set (cocoshnik).The branches of trees covered with white fluffy snow, that are also expressively painted.
The scene is framed with a thick gold band. The box's sides are decorated with birds, which are painted in gold. The bottom is adorned with a beautiful gold lace patterns.
The box is constructed from paper-mache. Black lacquer is used to paint the exterior of the piece while red lacquer completes the interior of the work. The lid is hinged at the left from composition, box rests on flat bottom. Signed with the artist's name, Fedoskino and the year of 2012.
