This splendid seascape is a creation of the famous Fedoskino artist Alexey Valyalin. In his youth he served in the navy, and this fact may explain his love towards the sea and ships. The scene is brilliantly painted in the realistic style. The interior is traditionally red. The box is constructed from paper-mache. It has a hinge from the top of the scene, and rests on flat bottom. The work is signed with the artist's name and the village of Fedoskino.
