Description:
This exquisite piece was created by the talented Sergey Knyazev from the village of Fedoskino. Each of his boxes is a true work of art, and not many contemporary artists can compete with him in painting technique, sense of color and choice of a theme. He becomes one of the most impressive and recognizable modern Fedoskino artists.
In this piece Sergey demonstrate supreme usage of the overlay method of application. This is done by painting one particular portion of the piece, thinly coating it with clear lacquer and then continuing on with the compositional process. By doing this, the artist creates three dimensional depth, perspective and beautiful texture.
The composition depicts an impressive and fantastic world of Sankt-Petersburg's chanels . The scene is painted over a mother-of-pearl inlay that sparkles from within with a variety of bright tones. Gold and silver paints are used to highlight and detail the drawing. The composition is multi-layered and this produces a three-dimensional effect and creates a dynamic experience for the eye.
