Rogatova Mariya Serafimovna was born in 1962 in the town of Mytishchy, Moscow Region. At present the artist lives together with her husband S.S. Rogatov in the village of Krukovo. In 1982 Mariya Serafimovna finished the Fedoskino Art School. Her teacher was Shchapin. M.S. Rogatova's diploma work included a composition "Bayonet fighting" and a reproduction of the famous picture "Boyars' feast". Almost all her artworks are original.

M.S. Rogatova is a member of the Artists's Union of Russia. She is participant of many exhibitions. The artist paints in the style of Fedoskino lacquered miniature, using oil paints. She is interested in depicting themes of fairy-tales. Her favorite work is a small chest "Pushkin's fairy-tales". Mariya Serafimovna values her artworks, chiefly, for artistic skill and professionalism.

Mariya Rogatova at her workplace

Starting to paint a composition, she always intends to create something new and original. Finishes her work, when there is nothing to add and all her artistic ideas are realized. M.S. Rogatova likes to use in painting blue, green, white and pastel tones. She thinks that her personal painting methods are decorativeness and the method of so called "through painted areas" where one color shone through another. The artist supposes people will remember in her artworks, mainly, such peculiar traits as fine brush mastery, interesting themes and beautiful color treatment.

Mariya Serafimovna decided to be an artist, because she has liked to paint since her childhood (in her childhood she attended an art studio). Her husband, S.S. Rogatov, is also a famous Fedoskino artist. Their little son, Pavel (1995), likes to paint very much too and his parents pin hopes on him. In her free time the artist keeps her household, brings up her son and likes to go for a walk with a dog and grow flowers.
