Ludvig Zhivnostka was born in Moscow in 1928. He graduated the Kholuy Art School in 1947 to join the Kholuy Lacquuer Miniature Factory. In addition to being a miniature artist, he worked as a retoucher for Pravda Publishers. He holds a degree from the Moscow Polygraphic Institute where he majored in graphics (1961). Now retired, he was a member of the RSFSR Artists' Union.
His works have been exhibited since 1960. His major works include "The Tale of the Priest and his Servant Balda" (1962), "Sadko" (1966), "The Domes of Vologda" (1970), "The Lay of Igor's Host" (1972).
