| Krotov Vasiliy Matveevich (1884 - 1967)

Vasily Krotov was born in Mstera in 1884. He attended the Icon Painting School from 1895 to 1900. He began working in the Mstera icon-painting studio the same year of graduation until 1907, when he transferred to the Moscow icon-painting studio and worked there until 1917. He was also engaged in restoration work during those seventeen years. He was a member of the Proletarian Art Artel from 1932-1955.
