Mozhaev Pavel Petrovich was born in 1952 in the town of Murom, Vladimir Region. Now he resides in the village of Mstera, Vladimir Region.
In 1975 the artist finished the Mstera Art School. His teachers were Avdeev Yuriy Vladimirovich and Demidova Lidiya Alexandrovna. The graduation project of P.P. Mozhaev was a plate "Pioneers of the Baikal Amur railway station.
Mozhaev used to work at the factory "Proletarian Art", at the workshops of the Union of Artists and at the artel "The Artist".
Repeatedly P.P. Mozhaev was awarded with diplomas and different prizes for his successful work in the field lacquered miniature painting.
The artist paints his works in the traditions of Mstera lacquered miniature, using tempera paints. He is also interested in the style of Strogonovsky Art School and the Novgorod and the Moscow(Iconic) styles of painting. His favorite themes to depict are historical subjects, scenes of modern life, fairy-tales, bylinas and songs. Lately he has showed interest to the technique of landscape painting.
Works by Pavel Mozhaev are exhibited in the Museum of Mstera lacquer miniature, in the Vladimir and Suzdal Museum and in the Russian Museum.
Pavel supposes the most important stage in working on a lacquered miniature is conveying and expressing of a chosen theme. Beginning to paint a new work, he intends mostly to construct a correct composition, to select necessary colors and to express picturesque of a chosen theme and its mood. An artist finishes painting, after realization of all his creative ideas.
The artist selects colors depending on a theme and the tasks that have been set.
Mozhaev supposes his creativity was greatly influenced by such famous Mstera artist as N.P. Klykov, L.A. Fomichev, I.N. Morozov, A.I. Borodin, A.F. Kotyagin and M.I. Dikarev.
In free time the artist likes to hunt and go fishing.
