Sergey Nikolaevich Antonov was born in 1975 in a small town named Syzran in the Samara region. Antonov currently resides in Palekh (Ivanovo Region). While at the Palekh Art Schook, he studeid under V.I. Golov and N.V. Gribov before finishing in 1998.
Sergey's original works include compositions entitled "Ruslan and Ludmila" (1998), "Astronomer" (1999), and "Spring" (1999). He uses traditional techniques of Palekh miniature painting, including tempera and acrylic gold paints. Antonov prefers to paint on a theme of fairy-tales.
The most important aspects in his works is to reveal the theme and image. When starting a new piece, the artist's main aim is to create a work that looks artistically designed. In his patterns this master likes to use a warm color range. Sergey finishes a work on a miniature, when he regards it completed and there is nothing to add to it. The distinctive feature of his works is his aspiration to exceed the limits of Palekh painting canon.
Antonov hopes the admirers of his creativity will remember his execution of paintings. The artist has his personal painting technique; he uses gold background that isn't traditional for this art. Sergey wishes all the best and good luck to the collectors. In his free time Antonov likes to read.
