Sergey Pavlovich Bakhirev was born in the village of Svergino, Vladimir Guberniya, on January 12, 1898, and died in Palekh on February 10, 1973. The artist came from a family of icon painters. Worked in the workshops of M.P. Parilov, the father of N.M. Parilov.
A pupil of the Ancient Painting Guild from 1928, and member of the Guild from 1933.
Being a gifted miniaturist, Sergey Pavlovich produced many beautiful compositions in the Palekh painting traditions. This artist worked on the themes of folklore, history, contemporary and genre scenes. Bakhirev is known for such pieces as, "A collective-farm festival", "Mikhail Kazarinov", "A Russian winter festival ", "Fog", "Yevpati Kolovrat".
The painter has been participant of different art exhibitions since 1935.
There is an interesting fact that in 1939 Sergey Pavlovich was awarded a bicycle as a prize in the Moscow exhibition.
His exquisite art works can be currently seen in the State Museum of Palekh Art, State Tretiyakov Gallery, Museum of Arts and Crafts (Smolensk), Nizhny Tagil Fine Art Museum, and State Art Museum (Nizhny Novgorod).
