Vladimir Mikhailovich Baranov was born in 1901 in Palekh in the Vladimir Province and died in his native village in 1977.
Subjects of his outstanding artwork are literature, genre scenes that are traditional for contemporary Palekh lacquered miniatures. The most interesting master's pieces are "Demon", "The Threshing at the Collective Farm", "From the Work", "At the Well", and "At the Fence".
Baranov's miniatures had been successfully shown since 1975. Works by Vladimir Mikhailovich can currently be seen in the State Museum of Palekh Art, Ivanovo Regional Art Museum, the State Museum Ethnography of Peoples of Russia, and Yaroslavl Art Museum.
