Roman Leonidovich Belousov was born in the village of Palekh in Ivanovo Region in 1928. Belousov joined the Union of Artists in 1958. And in 1974 the painter was also nominated to the title of Honored Artist of Russia. Roman Leonidovich attended Palekh Art School in 1944, where he studied under D.N. Butorin and A.V. Kotukhin until graduated in 1949. He has been working at Palekh Art Workshops since 1953. Belousov did monumental painting.
The themes he preferred to work on are folklore, literature, as well as genre scenes. Titles of his best pieces are "Alyosha Popovich", "Balda", "Chernomor Going Out", "Working Days of the Collective Farm", " and Snowmaiden". Since 1956 the most well known miniatures by this author have been exhibited, and many pieces still can be seen in such places as the State Museum of Palekh Art, Museum of Folk Art, Perm State Art Gallery, State Museum of Ethnography of Peoples of Russia, Vyat Regional Art Museum.
