Blokhin Alexander Ivanovich, icon and lacquer miniature artist, was born December 10, 1877 in the village of Palekh. He studied at the icon-painting workshop of N.M. Sofonov from 1887-1893, and became a member of the Ancient Painting Guild on November 1, 1925.
Themes of his works include literature, genre scenes (many of his works were created after Golikov's battle scenes), and include titles such as "Coming out of the forest", "Storm", "The iron current", "Smiths", "The Lay", "Falconry". He exhibited since 1926
Blokhin's boxes are displayed in such museums as State Museum of Palekh Art, Ivanovo Region Art Museum, Folk Art Museum, All-Russia Museum of Decorative, Applied and Folk Art, State Historical and Art Museum-Preserve (Sergiyev Posad), State Museum of A.S. Pushkin, Nizhny Taghil Museum of Fine Arts, Kursk Regional Art Gallery and many others.
