Stanislav Alexandrovich Butorin was born in 1934 into the family of a Palekh painter.
In 1954 Stanislav graduated from the Palekh Art School where his teachers were F.A. Kaurtsev and N.A. Pravdin. A year later his works became exhibitions' participants, and was hired at the Palekh Art Works in 1961. The master was nominated to join the Artists' Union in 1974.
Butorin prefers to paint on the themes of fairy-tales, bylinas, and folk songs. Besides fine art works the author has experience in mural painting, such as the frescoes of the Pioneers' Palace in Belov, Kemerovo Region, 1984. His works are now on display in the State Museum of Palekh Art, the State Russian Museum, the Zagorsk State Historico-Art Museum-Preserve, the All-Russia Museum of Decorative and Applied Art, and the Perm State Art Gallery.
