Ivan Alexandrovich Chelyshev, lacquer miniaturist, born in the village of Danilovo, Ivanovo Region, on November 24, and died in the village of Palekh on December 10, 1973.
Studied at the Palekh Art School in 1934-1939 under D.N. Butorin, A.V. Kotukhin, N.M. Zinoviev. Worked at the Palekh Art Workshops in 1939-1973.
Themes of his works: folklore, contemporary subjects ("In the dug-out", "Snow Storm", "Russian woman in the Great Patriotic War"). Exhibited since 1950. His works are exhibited in State Museum of Palekh Art, Ivanovo Region Art Museum, Folk Art Museum (Moscow).
