Kovalyov Alexander Ivanovich (1934 - ...)  Click to play

This renowned lacquer miniature artist was born in 1934, and has been a member of the Union of Artists since 1965. Alexander completed the Palekh Art School in 1954, where he studied under N.M. Zinoviev and N.A. Pravdin.

Kovalev (or Kovalyov as it is sometimes written) went on to become an established artist, as well as the director of the Palekh Art Production Artel from 1974-1989. He became the director of the artistic group "Masters of Palekh" in 1990. Alexander has participated in various exhibitions since 1962, and his works are contained in the State Museum of Palekh Art, the Art Fund of Russia, State Russian Museum, State Historical and Artistic Museum and Nature Preserve of Sergeiv Posad, and others.
