Yuriy Protasievich Kozlov was born in 1929 in the village of Ladygino in the Kostroma region. He studied the art of Russian lacquer miniature at the Palekh Art School, and graduated in 1950.
In addition to lacquer miniature, Kozlov also did porcelain painting. Yuriy Protasievich was nominated to join the Union of Artists in 1958. The themes of his artwork are subjects of folklore and literature. Many of his pieces have been displayed at various exhibitions since 1954, among them such miniatures as "Twelve Months", "Gold Cockerel", and "The Merchant Kalashnikov". Works by Kozlov are now held in collections of the State Museum of Palekh Art and the Art Fund of Russia.
