Alexander Makarov was a lacquer miniature artist. Born in August, 1900 in the village of Kovshovo (Ivanovo Region); fell at the front in 1943. Became a student at the Artel of Ancient Painting in 1928, where his teacher was I.I. Golikov.
Member of the Artel since 1930. Exhibited since 1933. Themes of his works: literature, genre scenes, troikas, hunting scenes ("The combat of Ruslan with Rogdai", "The Dead Tsarevna", "Bear-hunting", "The Water Nymph").
The majority of his works are kept at the State Museum of Palekh Art, which is the central museum dedicted to the revolution.
