Melnikov Konstantin Mikhailovich (1920 - ...)  Click to play

Konstantin Melnikov was born in the town of Lukh in the Ivanovo Region of Russia in 1920. He studied at the Palekh Art School from 1944-1949, and began working at the Palekh Art Workshop upon his graduation. He become a member of of the Artists' Union in 1960.

Themes of Melnikov's works include folklore, literature, and genre scenes, with such titles as "My Dear Land", "The Humpbacked Little Pony", "Under Peaceful Skies", "Ruslan and Ludmila", and "Finist the Bright Falcon". In addition to lacquer miniature, Melnikov was also involved in mural painting, and worked on the frescos in the Pioneers' Palace in Belovo in the Kemerovo Region of Russia.

Melnikov's works are now held in the State Museum of Palekh Art and the State Museum of Ethnography of Peoples of Russia.
