Vakurov Nikolay Dmitriyevich (1879 - 1952)  Click to play

Nikolay Dmitriyevich Vakurov was born on December 19, 1879, in the village of Palekh and there passed away on May 1, 1952. Vakurov studied iconography in the workshop of N.M. Sofonova, and was a member of the Artel of Ancient Painting since 1932.

He participated in exhibitions since 1932, and his works are held in the National Museum of Palekh Art, and the Museum of Folk Art.

He was primarily a portrait painter, although his works also included themes from literature. Well known works include "Gogol," "Girl," "Emelian Pugachov," and "Ivan the Terrible."
