Alexei Vatagin

(1881-1947) — born in Palekh, finished a course at an icon-painting school:

worked at Safonov's workshop;

painted and restored churches in Moscow, Kalyazin, Kostroma; from 1925, with the Artel of Old Painting.

His pieces are housed in Palekh, Moscow and Sergiev Posad museums.
